Greece's Ministry of National Economy and Finance and Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis filed a criminal complaint against unknown administrators of a Facebook page following the publication of a misleading investment advertisement using artificial intelligence altered deepfake audiovisual material. The ministry said the content falsely depicted the minister urging citizens to invest in purported “high-return programmes”, which it stated has no connection to reality. Prosecutorial authorities and the Cyber Crime Division of the Hellenic Police were also notified.
