Bank of Spain Director General for Economics David López Salido presented revised macroeconomic projections for Spain at the University of Valladolid, raising the outlook for both economic growth and inflation in 2026 and 2027. Gross domestic product is forecast to expand by 2.6% in 2026 and 2.2% in 2027, up 0.3 and 0.5 percentage points, respectively, from the June projections. Inflation is projected at 3.9% in 2026 and 3.7% in 2027, representing upward revisions of 0.3 and 1.1 percentage points. López Salido attributed the economy’s continued momentum to strong private consumption, job creation and population growth, despite a difficult international environment and higher energy costs.
