The National Bank of Moldova published provisional fourth-quarter 2025 international accounts data showing that the Republic of Moldova’s gross external debt totalled EUR 10,110.6 million as at 31 December 2025, equivalent to 56.0% of GDP. Gross external debt increased by 2.4% from the start of 2025, while the debt-to-GDP ratio fell by 2.7 percentage points compared with 31 December 2024. Public external debt accounted for 42.6% of the total at EUR 4,310.9 million, up 4.4% versus end-2024, while private external debt represented 57.4% at EUR 5,799.7 million, up 0.9% over the same period.

Gross external debt rose 2.4% from the start of 2025, while the debt-to-GDP ratio declined by 2.7 percentage points year-on-year, with public external debt at EUR 4,310.9 million (42.6% of total, up 4.4%) and private external debt at EUR 5,799.7 million (57.4% of total, up 0.9%).
