The Dominican Republic's Pensions Superintendency (SIPEN) reported its participation in the third edition of Expo Mercado de Valores 2025 in Santo Domingo, positioning its presence as support for initiatives aimed at strengthening financial literacy and promoting responsible investment. The event, held under the theme “Investing with purpose”, ran on 12 and 13 September at the Hotel Real Intercontinental Santo Domingo, with panels, conferences and educational activities for different audiences and the Central Securities Depository (Cevaldom) acting as a strategic partner. The opening ceremony brought together Vice President Raquel Peña, Central Bank Governor Héctor Valdez Albizu, Minister of the Presidency José Ignacio Paliza, Superintendent of the Securities Market Ernesto Bournigal Read, and SIPEN Superintendent Francisco A. Torres, with Finance and Economy Minister Magín Díaz delivering the keynote. Bournigal highlighted more than 710,000 securities market transactions in 2024, equivalent to 193% of GDP, and pointed to the role of investment funds and inclusion initiatives such as ProInversionista, while also announcing regulatory and operational updates including a crowdfunding regulation and a digital transformation featuring a revamped website. The release added that SIPEN would participate on 13 September with an interactive stand and promote its conocetufuturo.do platform to provide visitors with information on improving their finances for retirement.
