Thailand’s Office of Insurance Commission reported the completion of two sectorwide cyber exercises involving 67 insurers. The simulations tested insurers’ incident response plans and the regulator’s ability to coordinate, manage and communicate during cyber crises, with a focus on increasingly complex threats associated with artificial intelligence, external service providers and interconnected digital systems. The exercises took place on Sept. 22 and Sept. 30, 2026, and included 22 life insurers and 45 nonlife insurers. The third edition of the initiative used more comprehensive and technically detailed scenarios designed with KPMG Phoomchai Business Advisory to reflect real incident response steps. Participating firms can use the results to strengthen risk management, develop manuals and good practices, and align cyber response measures with international standards.
