Ecuador's Superintendency of Banks reported that the liquidation of Banco Amibank S.A., initiated on 1 April 2025, is progressing normally and that depositor reimbursements are moving into the payout phase. The supervisor stated that more than 99% of depositors are covered by the COSEDE deposit insurance scheme, with repayment guarantees of up to USD 32,000. Payments will be made through authorised financial agents from 21 April under an organised schedule with personalised service. In parallel, another bank will assume a significant portion of the liquidated bank’s credit operations for former customers, as well as certain deposits not covered by COSEDE; these products will continue to be serviced under a new customer relationship with the acquiring bank once the transition is completed, while remaining deposits will continue to be handled within the liquidation process in line with applicable rules. The supervisor also reiterated that all procedures are personal and free of charge.
