Hong Kong’s Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau announced that the Steering Committee for preparatory work for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Finance Ministers’ Meeting (FMM) 2026 has held its first meeting, as Hong Kong prepares to host the FMM in October 2026. Chaired by the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Christopher Hui, the committee reviewed initial preparatory work and agreed key follow-up tasks with relevant policy bureaux, departments and organisations. The steering committee includes senior representatives from 20 bodies and discussed operational planning for the FMM including the venue, accommodation and security arrangements, and publicity. The release also notes that China, as APEC 2026 host, will chair APEC’s main leaders’ and ministerial meetings, and that the FMM will be hosted by the Ministry of Finance and held in Hong Kong under arrangements and organisation by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.
