The Nigeria National Insurance Commission has held a one-day training program for officers of the Nigeria Police Force Federal Capital Territory Command to strengthen compliance with Motor Third-Party Insurance and other compulsory insurance requirements. The Abuja program focused on improving officers’ ability to verify insurance policies, identify genuine certificates and support public understanding of the role of compulsory insurance. The training covered the objectives and benefits of compulsory insurance, verification procedures, methods for detecting fake insurance certificates and the legal framework governing compliance. NAICOM linked the initiative to closer cooperation with the police to reduce uninsured vehicles on the road, protect road users and reinforce confidence in enforcement, citing alignment with the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act 2025. The commission also said it will continue working with law enforcement and other stakeholders to raise insurance awareness and improve compliance levels.
