The Monetary Authority of Macao (AMCM) and Banco de Cabo Verde have signed a new Cooperation Agreement on Supervisory Matters, establishing a more specific framework for collaboration and information exchange in financial supervision. The agreement was signed during the 12th BCPLP Governors’ Meeting held in Cabo Verde. The arrangement focuses particularly on prudential supervision and covers cooperation on anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing supervision, technical cooperation, professional training, and supervisory exchange related to emerging financial services. AMCM noted that it first signed a Cooperation and Technical Assistance Agreement with Banco de Cabo Verde in 1999, with an updated version signed in September 2024 in Macau during a China–Portuguese-speaking countries central banking and financial-sector conference. AMCM also reported it has bilateral cooperation agreements with 12 financial supervisory authorities across eight Portuguese-speaking countries, and indicated it will continue to deepen bilateral and multilateral financial cooperation with Portuguese-speaking countries and promote China–Portuguese-speaking countries financial exchange via Macau.
