The Islamic Development Bank Group and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development discussed developing a more structured institutional partnership and a stronger pipeline of joint operations. The talks, held between Islamic Development Bank Group Chairman Muhammad Al Jasser and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development President Odile Renaud-Basso, built on the institutions’ previous collaboration, including co-financing for public-private partnership projects. Potential areas of cooperation include private-sector development, trade finance, guarantees, local currency financing, Sukuk and domestic capital markets. The institutions also explored de-risking and risk-sharing instruments and projects in energy, infrastructure, trade, agribusiness, water, critical minerals, digital infrastructure and financial-sector development across Central Asia, Türkiye, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa and Iraq. The wider Islamic Development Bank Group could contribute through its trade finance, investment insurance and private-sector development entities.
