The Thailand Office of Insurance Commission reported that insurance complaints fell 27% to 5,906 in the first half of 2026, from 8,113 a year earlier. In an update following its third regional complaint-reduction seminar, the regulator outlined measures to prevent disputes earlier in the insurance process and standardize complaint and claims handling nationwide. The measures include performance indicators for claims management, stronger internal complaint review units, streamlined claims payment authority and mandatory insurer review of complaints received through Insurance Service Centers. The commission will also inspect insurers with the five highest ratios of complaints filed in 2025 relative to active policies, focusing on claims management and compliance with service-level standards. Regional supervision will place greater emphasis on market conduct, while insurer branches are expected to have sufficient authority and capacity to resolve local complaints without routinely referring cases to head offices.
