The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) held a working meeting with the Management Board of the Banks Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina on payment system modernisation projects, focusing on implementation of the TIPS Clone system for instant payments and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s accession to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). The Governor presented the status of these initiatives as part of the CBBH Strategic Plan and aligned with European Union standards, positioning commercial banks as essential delivery partners. On SEPA integration, 16 of 18 technical and regulatory criteria are reported as met, while submitting an application requires additional harmonisation of domestic legislation with relevant EU regulations. For TIPS Clone, the CBBH indicated the system is planned to be operational from July 2026 and will support faster payment transactions; the central bank plans to provide detailed technical specifications to banks, organise workshops, and offer ongoing technical support.
