The Brazilian Pension Funds Authority (PREVIC) has opened applications for the 9th PREVIC Monograph Prize, a public-sector competition aimed at generating proposals and research to improve Brazil’s closed supplementary pension (pension funds) system. The конкурс is free to enter and open to public employees and civil servants (including PREVIC staff), professors, students, independent professionals and researchers, as well as employees or managers of Closed Supplementary Pension Entities (EFPCs). Submissions may be authored individually or by up to three authors and must address one of three themes: communication and service to participants and beneficiaries, solvency of benefit plans, or governance and leadership. In each theme, first and second place receive BRL 10,000 and BRL 5,000 respectively, with up to three honourable mentions possible; winning monographs are to be published on PREVIC and Abrapp websites and receive certificates, and their proposals may be considered for implementation in sector policies and practices. Entries are due by 5 September. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place in São Paulo during the 46th Brazilian Congress of Private Pensions (22 to 24 October), with travel, accommodation and congress registration costs covered for authors or representatives of first and second place works.
