The Jamaica Financial Services Commission has launched a consultation on proposed standards that would establish a unified, principles-based framework for assessing the fitness, propriety and continuing suitability of people who own, direct, manage or exercise significant influence over regulated entities. The framework would harmonize approaches currently embedded separately in securities, insurance, pensions, and trust and corporate services provider legislation. It would apply to directors, officers, controllers, beneficial owners and other covered persons across all regulated sectors. Comments are due by Aug. 5, 2026.
