The Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission published a press release on SEC Commissioner Javey Paul D. Francisco’s address at the VIA Vendor Fair 2025, where the SEC reiterated its focus on strengthening Environmental, Social, and Governance compliance and sustainable business practices, with particular emphasis on small and medium enterprises. The event, organized by CRIF Philippines and attended by more than 1,500 procurement leaders and other stakeholders, positioned compliance and sustainability as drivers of business growth. The SEC highlighted its existing ESG-related initiatives, including the 2019 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines for publicly listed companies and the SMILEES Roadshow to help SMEs integrate sustainability into operations. While sustainability reporting is currently mandatory only for publicly listed companies, the SEC indicated it envisions ESG disclosure becoming standard practice for all enterprises as the sustainability landscape develops.
