Bermuda’s Ministry of Finance hosted international digital finance leaders for a Digital Finance Roundtable and supported the inaugural meeting that formally launched the Bermuda Stablecoin Association (BSA). The roundtable was positioned as part of the Government’s digital finance agenda and a forum to align with the Bermuda Monetary Authority and industry stakeholders on priorities for regulated digital assets and stablecoins. The Digital Finance Roundtable at the Cabinet Office included participants from the Bermuda Monetary Authority, global digital asset firms and representatives of the local banking industry. The Ministry referenced the Digital Asset Business Act introduced in 2018 and sought input on strategic priorities including Bermuda’s positioning in institutional digital investment markets and local challenges related to payments and banking. Separately, the BSA meeting hosted by Apex Group and Penrose Partners brought together founding participants from global digital asset firms operating in Bermuda, with an initial remit as an industry-led forum to support stablecoin adoption and institutional standard setting, and proposed working groups on compliance, technical standards, policy engagement and public education. The Ministry indicated it will continue working with the private sector and regulators to advance its digital finance agenda.
