At the third Women’s Excellence Gala in Bucharest on 18 March, National Bank of Moldova Governor Anca Dragu received an Excellence Award recognising her contribution to the development of the Republic of Moldova’s financial and banking sector. The prize was presented by Ramona Chiriac, head of the European Commission Representation in Romania. In her remarks, Dragu framed the award as recognition of the National Bank of Moldova team’s work on reforms aimed at strengthening financial stability, modernising the banking system and supporting Moldova’s integration into the European financial space, citing the country’s accession to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) as a landmark step. She also highlighted the role of women in finance and argued that more diverse teams deliver better, more innovative outcomes than less diverse ones, linking this to her promotion of gender-equality principles in leadership.
