The Central Bank of Paraguay reported that Adriana Jazmín Bernal Lugo, superintendent of Insurance, was elected to the board of the Association of Insurance Supervisors of Latin America (ASSAL) for the 2025-2027 term at the association’s 36th annual assembly held on March 28. The appointment gives Paraguay a seat on ASSAL’s top decision-making body and makes Bernal the first Paraguayan woman to serve on the board. During the assembly, Bernal called for regulation that is agile and adaptable to emerging markets and reiterated Paraguay’s commitment to strengthening the regional insurance market, preserving stability and protecting consumers. ASSAL brings together the main insurance supervisory authorities from 21 Ibero-American countries.
