Greece’s Ministry of National Economy and Finance published an interview summary in which Deputy Minister Giorgos Kotsiras set out recent tax reform priorities and cited results from measures aimed at reducing tax evasion and smuggling. The release pointed to 83 tax reductions in recent years and described a recent tax reform package intended to increase disposable income, with emphasis on workers with children, young people and regional support. It also referenced permanent citizen support measures including a rent refund and an annual EUR 250 payment for pensioners. On enforcement, it highlighted reforms such as linking point-of-sale terminals with cash registers and wider use of digital tools by the AADE, citing around EUR 2bn in additional revenues in the last year and a reduction of the VAT gap to below 10%.
