Peru's Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Private Pension Fund Administrators (SBS) announced the start of deposit repayments to customers of Caja Rural de Ahorro y Crédito Del Centro (CRAC Del Centro) following the launch of its liquidation process. Payments under the Deposit Insurance Fund (Fondo de Seguros de Depósitos, FSD) are being made to depositors included in a first list through Caja Municipal de Ahorro y Crédito Arequipa branches nationwide. The first payout covers natural persons’ savings and term deposits, including joint accounts. Natural persons with CTS accounts, outstanding debts or blocked funds at CRAC Del Centro are to be included in subsequent lists. Foreign-currency savings and term deposits will be paid in PEN using the SBS accounting exchange rate for the day before the institution’s intervention on 13 April 2026 (PEN 3.3740), and insured coverage is capped at PEN 117,200 per depositor under Article 152 of the General Financial System Law. Depositors can consult the first list via the SBS portal, and the SBS indicated it will provide payment dates in the coming days for customers not included in the initial list.
