The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP), together with the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA), has launched an Insurance Innovation Laboratory to support modernization of the insurance market, stimulate the development of innovative solutions, and strengthen links between the insurance sector and academia and the wider science and technology ecosystem. The laboratory is being established under a technical cooperation agreement between SUSEP and IMPA and was launched at an event in Rio de Janeiro attended by SUSEP’s Superintendent Alessandro Octaviani and other senior officials, as well as IMPA’s Director-General Marcelo Viana and project scientists. The event also brought together SUSEP staff and representatives from insurers, private pension entities, capitalization companies, reinsurers, mutual property protection associations, insurance brokers, and IMPA academics.
