The Superintendency of Banks of the Dominican Republic announced that a circular taking effect on 5 May 2026 will limit the visibility of unpaid credit information in the Central de Riesgos credit registry to a maximum of four years from a debt’s maturity or default. The measure introduces a financial-sector right to be forgotten for credit registry visibility, while leaving the legal status of the debt unchanged. The restriction applies only to information shown through the Superintendency’s credit inquiry system and does not cancel reported debts or affect the collection rights of financial intermediation entities or third parties that acquire or receive assignments of delinquent or unpaid loans. Debtors in judicial restructuring or liquidation are excluded. Central de Riesgos is the supervisory credit information repository that can be consulted by financial intermediation entities and by users reviewing their own credit records.
