European Parliament's Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) has announced a public hearing on “Digital assets – challenges for the competitiveness and integrity of the EU’s financial system” scheduled for 3 December 2025. The session will run from 11:00 to 12:30 and is intended to support ECON’s upcoming own-initiative report, which will examine challenges posed by digital assets and assess whether the Union’s regulatory framework, including MiCAR, is adequate to safeguard competitiveness, integrity and EU monetary sovereignty. Invited experts will provide input to the Committee’s work.

The European Parliament's Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs will hold a public hearing on 3 December 2025 to discuss the challenges digital assets pose to the EU's financial system. The session aims to inform ECON's forthcoming report on the adequacy of the Union's regulatory framework, including the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation, in maintaining competitiveness, integrity, and monetary sovereignty.
