The Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development launched a national project to strengthen the Philippines’ sustainability reporting framework and support sustainable finance and investment. The initiative includes the rollout of UNCTAD’s Accounting Development Tool to assess the country’s financial and sustainability reporting infrastructure and identify strengths, gaps and reform priorities. The project complements the commission’s adoption of the Philippine Sustainability Disclosure Standards in 2025, which are aligned with the International Sustainability Standards Board framework. It will involve stakeholder surveys and consultations, a national assessment and a workshop to validate the tool’s findings. Further steps include sustainability disclosure training for relevant sectors and the development of policy recommendations and an action plan for the country’s sustainability reporting ecosystem.
