ADGM’s Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) issued an alert to the financial services community and the public about false and misleading claims made by SGV Advisory FZ LLC, also referred to as Strategic Global Ventures, on the website sgv-group.com, including statements implying it can provide “FSRA license cover from day one”. The website promotes an investment platform for General Partner investors with a target of USD 500,000 and claims it can help users “launch your own IC” with immediate FSRA “regulatory coverage”, including references to a “Resident Director” providing FSRA cover until an “ICC license”. The site names a “Resident Director” who is an Approved Person at another FSRA-licensed entity, but the FSRA confirmed the individual has no connection to Strategic Global Ventures and that their name and image were used without permission. The FSRA stated that Strategic Global Ventures is not, and has never been, granted Financial Services Permission to carry on any Regulated Activity in or from ADGM, and is not, and has never been, incorporated or commercially licensed in ADGM. The FSRA reminded the market that only FSRA-authorised firms can undertake Regulated Activities in ADGM and advised investors to verify a firm’s status via the FSRA Public Register and, for incorporation or registration claims, the ADGM Registration Authority’s Public Register.
