The Luxembourg Ministry of Finance reported that Finance Minister Gilles Roth signed a memorandum of understanding with Thailand to strengthen cooperation and deepen links between the countries’ financial sectors during the World Bank and International Monetary Fund annual meetings in Bangkok. Roth also held bilateral discussions focused on economic prospects, financial cooperation and Luxembourg’s role in mobilizing private capital for sustainable and resilient growth. The annual meetings emphasized structural reforms, public debt sustainability and greater private capital mobilization amid persistent global uncertainty and inflationary pressures. Discussions also covered financial stability, anti-money laundering and anti-corruption measures, and resilience to climate, energy and economic risks. Roth attended the launch of the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Corruption thematic fund, which will help member countries strengthen financial integrity and institutional governance while reducing macroeconomic risks. Roth also reiterated support for Ukraine’s stability, resilience and reconstruction at a ministerial roundtable. Separate meetings included counterparts from India, Liechtenstein, Malaysia, Oman and Togo, as well as International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and Asian Development Bank President Masato Kanda.
