In remarks marking Albania’s formal entry into the global Women Entrepreneurs Finance Code, the Bank of Albania set out a structured, data-based approach to improving women entrepreneurs’ access to finance. Initial work has established the basis for a national view of financing for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises broken down by gender, supported by an analytical dashboard to identify financing gaps and measure progress. The code rests on institutional leadership, data and action. It is intended to give public authorities stronger evidence for policymaking and help banks and microfinance institutions understand the size, characteristics and needs of women-led businesses, enabling them to adapt products and processes. The next phase will focus on converting the data and institutional commitments into measurable improvements in access to information, financial products and funding.
