The Central Bank of Syria welcomed the Arab League Council’s decision to fully lift political, economic and social sanctions on Syria and its institutions, while retaining sanctions related to officials of the former regime. The central bank said the decision could support economic recovery and reconstruction while expanding economic and banking cooperation with Arab countries and institutions. It also expects the measure to aid the rebuilding of Syria’s banking and monetary sectors, strengthen links with Arab and international financial institutions, and improve conditions for trade, investment and capital flows under applicable legal, regulatory and compliance frameworks.
