The Financial Superintendency of Colombia has launched Foreign Portfolio Investor, an English-language microsite on its website that brings together information for overseas investors interested in making portfolio investments in Colombia. The launch forms part of the public-private initiative Capital Markets in Colombia, Colombia Destination for Investment and is presented as a first step to address longstanding difficulties foreign investors have faced in understanding how the Colombian securities market operates. The microsite provides information on the structure of Colombia’s capital market, its participants, operational procedures for onboarding, maintaining investments and divesting, issuers and offerings, statistical resources, applicable regulation and frequently asked questions. It is the first version produced through public-private capital market working groups led by the Financial Superintendency of Colombia since late 2023, with contributions from the central bank, the Financial Regulation and Studies Unit, the National Tax and Customs Directorate, the securities market self-regulator AMV and the Colombia Stock Exchange.
