The Central Bank of Brazil has published a new, dedicated webpage for the Central Bank Economic Activity Index (IBC-Br), presenting the series in a more visual, contextualised and explanatory format aimed at improving accessibility beyond specialist users. The page is already live and includes the most recent IBC-Br release, covering December 2025 data. Previously, IBC-Br data were made available through the Time Series Management System (SGS) and via Excel spreadsheets in Selected Economic Indicators. The IBC-Br has been published since 2010 and aggregates information across industry, commerce, services and agriculture to provide a monthly, more timely gauge of economic activity, typically released around 45 days after the reference month. The release also reiterates that, from April 2025, the indicator was enhanced with sectoral breakdowns (agriculture, industry and services) and an additional version excluding agriculture, and notes the new page includes a “What the table says” section designed to translate the main figures from each release into simpler language.
