The Bank of Thailand, alongside Thailand’s Ministry of Finance and the International Monetary Fund, published an update on preparations for the 2026 Annual Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank Group, which Thailand will host in Bangkok from 12–18 October 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. The parties reported progress across areas including construction, security and branding, and positioned the Meetings as Thailand’s second time hosting at the venue following 1991. The update followed discussions between Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Dr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Bank of Thailand Governor Vitai Ratanakorn and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva. Thailand set the theme as “Thailand’s New Horizons: Empowering People, Building Resilience”, while the Bank of Thailand linked the Meetings to its “Safe and Inclusive Digital Finance (SIDF) for Financial Wellbeing” agenda, including work to shape a practical SIDF blueprint that other countries could adopt and adapt. Preparations continue ahead of the Meetings scheduled for 12–18 October 2026.
