The Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission issued a cease and desist order against an entity unlawfully using the corporate name of Una Amigo Lending Corporation to conduct and promote lending activities without the required SEC registration. Under an order dated 1 August, the SEC Financing and Lending Companies Department directed the entity to immediately stop engaging in, promoting, or facilitating any lending-related activity and to cease misrepresenting itself as Una Amigo Lending. The action followed a complaint by Una Amigo Lending, a duly registered lending company, alleging the entity used an unauthorized website, a fake SEC registration document, and other materials including a fake logo, identification cards, and an office setup.
