At an event in Tubarão, Santa Catarina on the impacts of Complementary Law 213/2025, the Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) outlined how the law applies to mutual property protection operations and stressed that associations must register with SUSEP to continue operating. SUSEP’s Director Carlos Queiroz noted that additional secondary regulation will be needed to give full effect to the law. He also highlighted that registrations must be completed by 15 July 2025 and that any association choosing not to register must, by the same deadline, cease mutual protection activities and similar operations or face applicable administrative and judicial sanctions. SUSEP’s registration system is available on the authority’s website, together with operational procedures, required documentation and other information needed to complete registration.
