The Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission has been named the country’s “Paper-less Champion” by the Development Academy of the Philippines under the Productivity Challenge 2025, citing nearly 217 million pages of paper saved through its online platforms for company registration and report submissions. The award followed the implementation of the SEC Electronic Filing and Submission Tool (eFAST) and SEC Zuper Easy Registration Online (SEC ZERO), with the SEC selected ahead of more than 40 other public sector institutions. Launched in 2021, eFAST enables online submission of reportorial requirements such as audited financial statements and general information sheets, processing over 577,000 report submissions in 2024, equivalent to 216.6 million pages saved and around PHP 92.6 million in savings for corporations. SEC ZERO, launched in July 2024, provides an end-to-end paperless registration process by enabling digital authentication and removing the need for wet signatures, notarization, and hard-copy submissions; from July 2024 to June 2025 it processed nearly 7,000 applications, saving around 104,000 pages and generating around PHP 45,000 in savings. The SEC indicated it will continue reassessing its practices and systems to further improve services and advance sustainability.
