The Hong Kong Insurance Authority has alerted the public to phishing mobile text messages sent by fraudsters claiming to be FWD Life Insurance Company (Bermuda) Limited, an authorised insurer in Hong Kong, in an attempt to obtain personal or payment information. The messages asked recipients to call a suspicious phone number to cancel a renewal premium allegedly due under an insurance policy. FWD confirmed it has no connection with the fraudulent messages, and the matter has been reported to the Hong Kong Police Force for investigation. The Insurance Authority advised anyone who has shared information with the fraudsters or conducted transactions through them to contact FWD and report the case to the police.
