The Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF), together with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), commenced a joint assessor training course in Doha, Qatar to strengthen assessor capabilities for anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CFT) work across member jurisdictions. The five-day course is delivered by trainers from the FATF and MENAFATF secretariats and includes more than 40 trainees representing more than 25 member countries of MENAFATF and FATF, as well as other FATF-Style Regional Bodies. Hosting and support are provided by the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, in cooperation with Qatar’s National Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Committee, with MENAFATF signalling its intention to run similar capacity-building programmes on an ongoing basis with partners.
