The Chile Financial Market Commission (CMF) published an update on measures to support people affected by fires in the south of the country in accessing insurance payments. The CMF is monitoring claims settlement and payment processes and has instructed insurance companies to take all necessary measures to ensure timely responses to clients and prompt handling of claims settlements and payouts. Affected people can use the Insurance Inquiry System (SICS) to check online, in real time and free of charge whether they have insurance with any company operating in Chile. Access requires an Individual Password; insured persons and policyholders receive an automatic response, while requesters claiming legitimate interest must provide supporting documents and then receive email instructions to review policies linked to the relevant RUT within a maximum of 10 business days. The CMF also strengthened its Citizen Services Office, expanded coordination with Chile Atiende branches, and published additional website guidance on collecting insurance payments and related queries.
