The Central Reserve Bank of Peru published labour market indicators showing national formal employment rose 4.7% year on year in June 2025, adding 272,000 jobs versus June 2024 and extending the expansion to fifteen consecutive months. Private-sector formal employment increased 6.3% year on year to 4.331 million jobs, with services (+88,000), agriculture (+67,000) and commerce (+34,000) contributing the largest gains. The real formal wage bill grew 6.2% year on year, while the private-sector wage bill rose 8.7% in real terms, driven mainly by services and commerce and underpinned by the sustained increase in formal jobs based on electronic payroll data from SUNAT.
