The Albania Financial Services Authority held a coordination meeting with the GIZ SANECA project to strengthen institutional cooperation in support of Albania’s EU accession commitments under Chapter 9 Financial Services, with a focus on harmonising national legislation with the European Union regulatory framework. The cooperation is intended to support alignment with the EU acquis, assess the impact of regulatory policies, and strengthen the AMF’s institutional capacities. The discussion also reviewed GIZ’s support in drafting legal and regulatory packages and highlighted the need to prepare the market for the application of EU-level standards and their effective implementation. GIZ presented current SANECA II activities with the AMF and the parties discussed priority areas for cooperation for 2026–2029, including new planned commitments for 2026 and onwards. GIZ reaffirmed it will continue assisting the AMF to complete the drafting phase of a comprehensive legal package fully aligned with the EU acquis.
