Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defence of Users of Financial Services (CONDUSEF) published consumer complaint statistics for the state of Tlaxcala covering January to November 2025, reporting 2,698 complaints, up 7.3% from the same period in 2024. The share of cases resolved in users’ favour was 47.2%, and Tlaxcala represented 1.1% of total complaints nationally. Complaints came from users in all 60 municipalities, led by Tlaxcala municipality (22.6%), followed by Apizaco (9.6%) and Chiautempan (7.2%). Most cases were handled through CONDUSEF’s electronic case-management process (64.7%), with 14.0% processed through conciliation. The amount claimed totalled MXN 104.7 million, a 54.9% increase year on year, while the amount recovered reached MXN 13.2 million, up 34.7%. Debit cards, special credit reports and credit cards accounted for 50.9% of complaints, and the main drivers were unrecognised purchases, unrecognised electronic transfers and failures to update credit histories (27.2% combined). By sector, commercial banking made up 50.1% of complaints, followed by credit bureaus (18.6%) and insurers (12.5%); within commercial banking, 21.2% of complaints involved older adults and 47.9% were linked to possible fraud, mainly unrecognised purchases and transfers.
