The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) and the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) published an updated Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening cooperation and coordination in support of financial stability in Australia. The updated MOU clarifies each agency’s roles and responsibilities and sets out arrangements for consultation, liaison and information sharing. The document includes specific coordination arrangements covering macroprudential policy, liquidity support, payments policy and crisis management. Alongside the bilateral update, the Council of Financial Regulators, through which the RBA and APRA also coordinate with other agencies on a multilateral basis, published an updated Charter.
