The National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan published an update on high-level meetings held by a Tajikistan delegation on the margins of the IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, including a 14 April 2026 meeting with World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Antonella Bassani focused on cooperation and priority socio-economic projects. The talks covered prospects for mobilising investment and implementing priority projects, with the World Bank framed as a key partner for structural reforms, infrastructure development and institutional capacity-building. Cooperation on major energy projects, particularly the Rogun hydropower plant, was highlighted, alongside a macroeconomic briefing that cited 8% real GDP growth in the first two months of 2026 and pointed to banking-sector growth and the digitisation of financial services, including increased cashless payments and wider use of modern payment instruments. Further cooperation areas discussed included green finance, sustainable development, financial-sector digitisation and financial inclusion.
