The Central Bank of Egypt has signed a memorandum of understanding with New Giza University to launch what it describes as the first specialized Artificial Intelligence (AI) Diploma for Bankers under the “Digital Academy” run by FinTech Egypt, a Central Bank of Egypt initiative. The programme is positioned as a capacity-building pathway for banking and financial sector professionals in AI and broader FinTech domains, aligned with Egypt’s digital transformation objectives. The diploma is structured as five training programmes covering AI fundamentals for banking, core AI techniques and tools, data management, privacy and governance, AI governance ethics and risk management, and AI implementation and operationalisation in banking operations. Training is designed around practical banking-sector case studies, tools and frameworks, and participants can complete all five programmes to obtain a diploma certificate or enrol in individual modules. As context, the Central Bank of Egypt launched the Digital Academy in January 2023 in collaboration with the Egyptian Banking Institute, including a pilot “The Innovator Programme” and four specialised “Generative AI in Finance” training programmes running from 2024. The release also points to related education initiatives, including the “FinYology” university curriculum integration of a “Fundamentals of FinTech” course in the 2024/2025 academic year and a Bachelor of Banking Sciences programme introduced with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research starting in the 2025/2026 academic year.
