The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) released its February 2025 inflation update, showing a marked decline in annual inflation. Annual urban headline CPI inflation fell to 12.8% from 24.0% in January 2025, while annual core CPI inflation declined to 10.0% from 22.6%. On a month-on-month basis, urban headline CPI inflation was 1.4% in February 2025 versus 1.5% in January 2025 and 11.4% in February 2024, based on the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics’ CPI. Core CPI inflation, computed by the CBE, was 1.6% versus 1.7% in January 2025 and 13.2% in February 2024. The CBE indicated that inflation statistics are available on its website and that the monthly inflation note will be published on March 15, 2025.
