The Central Bank of Kuwait has launched the Kuwait Wage Payment System, a national platform for processing and monitoring private sector wage transfers through local banks. It is the third system introduced under the second phase of the Kuwait National Payments System, following the launches of the Kuwait Automated Clearing House in January 2026 and the Kuwait Dispute Management System in February 2026. The central bank will manage the platform’s technical operations, while the Public Authority for Manpower will supervise employers’ compliance with wage protection requirements. The ISO 20022 aligned system enables secure electronic salary payments, transaction tracking and immediate regulatory monitoring to detect payment failures or noncompliance. It is also intended to reduce manual processes, improve data exchange and support wider use of banking and electronic payment services.
