Maldives Finance Minister Hassan Zareer inaugurated Maldives Islamic Bank’s 62nd ATM in Baa Goidhoo, expanding local access to cash deposit and withdrawal services. The facility is intended to reduce residents’ need to travel to the atoll capital and support the island’s growing guesthouse and tourism businesses. Zareer linked the expansion to the government’s policy of extending financial services, including Sharia-compliant products, beyond Malé and major population centers. He also pledged government support for similar efforts by Maldives Islamic Bank and other financial institutions to broaden banking access nationwide.
