The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) has ordered the cessation of insurance intermediation carried out through four websites that were offering insurance services without authorisation, and has initiated their blocking by providers operating in Italy. The blocking process is under way and, for technical reasons, may take a few days to become fully effective. The affected sites are cginsuranceroma.it, dr-broker.it (including www.dr-broker.it), prane-online.com (including www.prane-online.com) and assicuri-amo.it (including www.assicuri-amo.it). The cessation orders are published in IVASS’s “Defendiamoci dalle truffe” section, and the total number of websites subject to IVASS blocking orders has risen to 242 since it began exercising these powers in November 2023. IVASS also reiterated consumer guidance to use caution with insurance offers made via the internet, telephone or instant messaging, especially for temporary motor third-party liability policies, and to verify before payment that quotes and contracts relate to duly authorised firms and intermediaries listed on IVASS registers, including the Single Register of Insurance Intermediaries (RUI).
