The Authority for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AMLA) has appointed Nicolas Vasse as its new Executive Director, a move presented as a milestone in the agency’s operationalisation. The appointment makes him responsible for AMLA’s day-to-day management. The remit includes implementing the Authority’s budget, overseeing human resources and executing operational activities, as well as supporting the Executive Board on core decisions related to planning, budgeting, information technology and security. Vasse has over 20 years of experience across EU agencies and advisory services, including more than a decade as Head of Operations at the European Securities and Markets Authority and, most recently, as a Partner at Promontory, an IBM Consulting entity. He is due to formally assume the role in September 2025.
