Greece's Ministry of National Economy and Finance announced that Minister of National Economy and Finance and Eurogroup President Kyriakos Pierrakakis will travel to Nicosia for the Eurogroup and informal ECOFIN meetings, where affordable housing will be the main Eurogroup agenda item. The meetings will also cover euro area macroeconomic developments and the impact of the prolonged Middle East crisis on energy markets, the European economy and inflation. Euro area finance ministers are due to discuss the causes of the housing crisis and policy options to improve access to affordable housing, with a focus on financing, expanding housing supply and the use of European tools. The Eurogroup agenda also includes an update on progress on the digital euro, while the informal ECOFIN meeting will address reforms to strengthen European Union competitiveness and the growing use of stablecoins, including their role in the international financial system and the challenges they pose for financial stability and the regulatory framework.
