The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP), represented by Market Organization and Conduct Regulation Director Jessica Bastos, participated in the National Federation of General Insurance’s first technical meeting on transport insurance, focused on the motivations and consequences of National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) Resolution No. 6,068/2025. Discussion centred on regulatory steps under Law No. 14,599/2023 and the resulting requirement for cargo transport companies and cooperatives to maintain civil liability insurance as a precondition for obtaining and renewing registration in the National Register of Road Cargo Carriers (RNTRC). In her opening remarks, Bastos outlined SUSEP’s regulation of Law No. 14,599/2023, which culminated in National Council of Private Insurance (CNSP) Resolutions No. 472/2024 and No. 478/2024, and noted that the process included a public hearing after several years without one at the authority. She also emphasised that the topic extends beyond rulemaking and depends on ongoing supervision, highlighting pricing as a key supervisory concern due to its potential knock-on effects on food prices.
